What is Hopeline19?

The last 18 months or so have been incredibly challenging for so many of us.

However, people working in the NHS and frontline services have endured some of the most traumatic experiences of their careers and in fact, lives.

A huge percentage of the workforce are starting to show signs of psychological trauma and Post Traumatic Stress. They also feel, as we gently return to some normality, isolated and silenced about their experiences. We want to change that.

Silence can end lives.

Hopeline19 is a campaign set up by Frontline19 which aims to connect the public with our NHS & frontline workers. These are people’s Mums, dads, sisters, brothers and even children who have sacrificed so much both at the start of the pandemic and in the vaccine rollout. In short, they have been at the start and (hopefully) the ending of the pandemic.

It is a phone line that enables you to call up for free and leave a voice message to show your support, love and appreciation for the very people that have been working in incredibly challenging and life-changing ways for months on end.

The NHS and frontline workers are then able to call up and listen to your messages of support. We want to encourage people to keep the conversation going and to continue to break the taboos surrounding emotional wellbeing and mental health.

There are over 3,000,000 reasons for you to call. They all have a story and a life.

How it works

Anyone can call 0808 19 665 19 for free 24/7. Dermot O’Leary will answer the phone with a pre-recorded message. You can press 1 to leave your message of gratitude, or 2 to listen to the messages if you’re an NHS or frontline worker.

Why do we need Hopeline19?

Unless you are an NHS or frontline worker, you probably have no idea what people have been through over the last 18 months. You may have seen snippets on the news or in the newspapers, but what you haven’t had is first-hand experience of the trauma that these everyday people have gone through on a daily basis.

Staying away from home, loved ones, family members, to help keep the nation safe. Looking after incredibly sick people in indescribably challenging situations.

What we aim to do with Hopeline19 is let those NHS and frontline workers know that they are not alone, that you, the public haven’t forgotten about them, their sacrifices, and their huge efforts in such an extraordinary time.

Hopeline19 aims to bring hope to those very people that are struggling now and unfortunately will struggle in the future.

Please consider leaving a message to tell our frontline how much you appreciate them, and the impact they have had on your life and your loved ones. They have helped us so much and now it is our time to support them.

Why your messages are so important

One crisis has caused another. The NHS and frontline services are facing a massive mental health crisis as a result of the COVID pandemic.

2 in 5 critical care staff are showing symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. That’s more than twice the rate of PTSD found in recently returning military veterans from combat.

We have to end the silence. Your voice, with others, can actively change someone’s life and encourage them to seek support.

Please join us to create this change. Find us on social media and tag us in your messages of hope.
